Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which is celebrating its 50th birthday in 2006) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. Helvetica is currently screening at film festivals, museums, design conferences, and cinemas worldwide, and is now available on DVD.
Open Source Web Design offers thousands of web page templates free-of-charge as well as designers and coders comments about building effective pages.
AIGA Mentoring Guidebooks developed by the American Institue of Graphic Arts mentoring task force and Worldstudio, the mentoring guides are resource tools for individuals and organizations interested in mentoring—and creating mentoring programs—with an emphasis on the visual arts. The guides, which have been designed to engage, excite and educate AIGA chapters, designers, students and teachers, contain success stories, case studies and valuable reference materials.
Eyetracking Study by the Poynter Institute, the Estlow Center for Journalism and New Media, and Eyetools Inc. took 46 Internet users and looked through their eyes -- utilizing sophisticated and non-intrusive "eyetracking" equipment -- as they each spent an hour reading news websites and multimedia news content. The results are important for anyone creating graphic design.
